The first of the buying trips for the SS10 season, a bit early in my opinon, is Firenze, Italy and the huge show called Pitti Immagine Uomo. The exhibitors list stretches from Classic Italian and British suiting to Japanese work wear, hundreds of shoe brands and small independent labels mixed with the big fashion houses. Our main target was N.Y-based and Daiki Suzuki (also head designer for Woolrich Woollen Mills) designed Engineered Garments. E.G is work-wear and fashion mixed togeteher on the best possible matter. Chambray, rogh silver thread sewn cotton and classic worker and military styles. Of course we made an excellent pick containg outer wear, worker shirts, shorts suits, vests, accesories and lots more. Beautiful.

Right next to EG stood Newcastle gentleman Nigel Cabourn and presented his own brand. A collection based on his fathers stay in Burma during WW2. Military inspired with lots of khaki and grey tones in amazing fabrics. Some of them deadstock from the 40's.

On the last day, just a few hours before going back we stopped by Yuketen. Japanese hand made shoes in a variaty of styles. I'm very glad that we did because what we were shown in that both was some of the best footwear I've seen in a very long time. Mr Yuki Matsuda from Yuketen started our short briefing with the words: "First of all, we make very good shoes and it has nothing to do with fashion" and we even got a show of how you tie your Yuketen shoes compared to how "normal people" tie their "normal shoes"
